# Directions:

01 - Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
02 - In a large bowl, combine flour, oats, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
03 - Pour melted butter and vanilla extract over the dry ingredients. Stir until the mixture is crumbly and evenly moistened.
04 - Reserve 1 ½ cups of the crumb mixture for the topping. Press the remaining mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form an even crust.
05 - In a separate bowl, toss cherries with sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and almond extract until evenly coated.
06 - Spread the cherry mixture evenly over the crust. Sprinkle the reserved crumble mixture over the cherries.
07 - Bake for 35–40 minutes until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbling around the edges.
08 - Cool completely in the pan, then lift out using the parchment overhang. Cut into bars and serve.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The combination of buttery crumble and tart cherries hits that perfect sweet and tangy balance that keeps you reaching for just one more
  • They come together faster than a pie but feel just as special for casual gatherings or quiet afternoons with tea
02 -
  • Pressing the crust firmly with the bottom of a measuring cup prevents it from puffing up unevenly while baking
  • The filling needs to bubble completely to ensure the cornstarch has fully thickened, so do not underbake
03 -
  • Use room temperature ingredients to ensure everything mixes evenly without overworking the dough
  • Letting the bars cool completely is the hardest part but absolutely essential for clean cuts
