01 - In a small bowl, blend cream cheese, unsalted butter, dill (if using), salt, and pepper until the mixture is smooth and evenly combined.
02 - Using a butter knife or offset spatula, spread an even layer of the cream cheese mixture onto one side of each slice of bread.
03 - Arrange cucumber slices in slightly overlapping layers on half of the prepared bread slices.
04 - Place the remaining bread slices on top, cream cheese side down, to form sandwiches.
05 - Gently press down on each sandwich and slice each into four quarters, either rectangles or triangles.
06 - Serve immediately, or cover with a damp paper towel and refrigerate until ready to enjoy.
